The Ministry of Health of Ghana launched the rehabilitation and upgrading project to transform Ridge Hospital in Accra into a regional facility.
Ridge Hospital is an essential project for the city. Due to increasing patient numbers, the previous hospital was overstretched and the refurbishment was necessary to provide extra capacity. The revamped hospital provides for a modern, fully functional facility complete with operating theaters. The hospital is in line with international standards and represent one of the most advanced medical facilities in West Africa.
It includes a new 420-bed building, a treatment block and a cutting-edge maternity ward. In addition, some of the building’s electricity supply is provided by solar power, enabling it to meet environmental standards.
System consists of 75 AET MSC-40 Flat Plate Collectors, heat exchangers, Storage tanks, & back up electric water heaters , along integrated solar controller w/ internet monitoring platform
Solar system is preheating in excess of 3,800 gallons of water to 180F on a daily basis.
Zager Global, Inc. provided design build, Procurement and on site consulting services for the solar hot water heating of domestic water system.
