Solar Rebates and Incentives
While certain federal incentives extend to the majority of solar installations performed in the United States, many solar rebates and incentives vary from state to state with some local utilities also offering customer rebates.
For more information regarding federal, local, and utility rebates and incentives for solar energy applications, please visit the Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (DSIRE), which was established in 1995 and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The site is administered as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and provides a comprehensive list of incentives and policies in each state.
For Florida Power and Light customers in the state of Florida, there are several solar rebates for residential and business customers:
As a part of a pilot program authorized by the Florida Public Service Commission, FPL is offering business customers a rebate up to $50,000.00 per site for installing new solar water heating systems and business customers with multiple locations can receive up to $150,000.00 per funding year (available for all existing business customers with electric or gas water heating).
FPL is also offering solar PV rebates of up to $50,000.00 per premise during the life of the pilot program. Again, customers with multiple locations can apply for rebates for multiple locations up to a limit of $150,000.00 per funding year.
The solar PV rebates are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis and usually are allocated in an extremely short amount of time from the date and time the registration period opens.
